The Thrive Youth Board is a leadership development group at Chelan High School. Each school year, students are selected to work for Thrive under the mentorship of Michelle Navarro, a trained Fusion leader and previous Thrive board member.
The group meets weekly during their Advisory period and monthly through lunch to learn skills such as: time management, organization, public speaking, website development and advertising on social media, interviewing, and networking,
Additionally, the Thrive Youth Board learns about and enhances Thrive programs. In 2015 they created the give.share.play program and they continue support and promote it. They speak to groups on behalf of Thrive, volunteer at Thrive-sponsored events, report periodically to the Thrive board, and participate in fun activities such as an annual winter retreat and We Day in Seattle.
Who: Each year new students are invited to participate and former students take on additional leadership roles. The 2016-17 Thrive Youth Advisory Board includes: President Estrella Medina, Vice President Berenice Cristobal, Armando Saldana, Adilene Tapia, Anabeth Morales, Jonathan Rodriguez, Juan Murillo, Lupe Galvan, and Maribel Andrade.
When: The application process starts in September of each year. We meet weekly during Advisory period and once a month through lunch. We also participate in off-campus events.
Where: Chelan High School Conference Room
Sponsors: We are looking for organizations interested in providing lunch for the group once a month so we can meet for an entire hour. We would also love for organizations to offer opportunities for our group to participate in team-building enrichment activities during the year.
